Assess your inner circle

You become the average of your five closest friends

Hi Reader,

You didn't end up in this community because you dig mediocrity. So, let's discuss a hard truth about growth—you will outgrow some people and some relationships.

It is common to realize when you're ready for a new workout routine, a promotion, or therapist. But friends? Family? Professional network? It can be sad to consider that some of these relationships need to evolve as we grow at our own unique pace.

Here's the bottom line: Neuroscience shows that our brain adapts to match the habits, standards, and behaviors of the people we spend the most time with.

Ask yourself: Are the people I spend the most time with living the lifestyle I aspire to?

Do they have...

  • Habits that prioritize their physical health and longevity? Mental and emotional health?
  • The financial security and freedom I want?
  • An empowering approach to dealing with conflict?
  • Habits that help them grow? Language that encourages my growth?
  • The kind of work-life-mix I aspire to?
  • The quality of intimate relationship and friendships I want?

If not, what is one adjustment you can make right now?

Think of your most important goal. Who is one person in your life who is farther along on that path than you? Reach out to them right now and schedule intentional time to connect.

That's a great first step!

Give yourself the gift of being surrounded by people whose mere presence makes you better. It's a game changer.

Keep growing,
Jamie 🪴💚
